The Silent Horn Foundation

DEAF SOMALIS DON'T
SUFFER ON OUR WATCH

The Somalis are one of only a few groups on earth who still don't have an internationally recognised Sign Language. The Silent Horn Foundation is fighting for it's Deaf Somali community to access their rights and achieve their dreams in the UK whilst strengthening their identity and culture in Somali Sign Language.

Our team, our story, our mission.

Meet Our Founder

Samira Duale

Born in Mogadishu but raised in London, Samira is an incredibly brave and hard working bastian of hope for many deaf Somalis.

After developing an ear infection as a child which rendered her deaf in one ear and severely hard of hearing in the other, Samira had to learn Sign Language when she was already having to learn English on arrival in the UK. Now, striving to empower her community with the language and the resources to belong, she is the proud founder and leader of "The Silent Horn Foundation".
